Thai Boxing

The origin of Thai Boxing, in Thai called Mauy Thai, dates back more than seven hundred years, when a manual was written in order to teach Thai warriors how to do battle. Nowadays Muay Tai has become a famous sport and martial art, and also a form of self-defence and physical exercise, popular with both men and women.

In recent years many women have been taking up Muay Thai, mainly for self-defence purposes but also as a kind of art form that requires the same kind of rigorous discipline and supple physique as ballet.

The difference with Muay Thai is its “upright grabbing techniques”. This series of techniques is sometimes compared to Aikido or Ju Jitsu, because they rely on the same kind of nerve centre, circular motion and pressure points and require an explicit sense of both human anatomy and body mechanics.
