Accommodation

With 393 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, the hotel also has five restaurants - Le Normandie, The China House, Lord Jim's, the Sala Rim Naam, serving traditional Thai cuisine, and Ciao, an outdoor Italian bistro. The Bamboo Bar, The Verandah coffee shop, Riverside Terrace and Authors' Lounge, complete the picture.

 

 

Bars and restaurants

The Oriental Bangkok offers a total of eight food & beverage outlets:

Le Normandie
Located on the 5th floor of the Old Wing, Le Normandie is considered to be Asia’s finest and most elegant French restaurant offering an inspired a la carte menu, creation of a Michelin three star consultant chef. Ceiling to floor glass panels provide diners with breathtaking views of the Chao Phraya River. Business set lunch, a la carte lunch and dinner. Jacket and tie are required for dinner.

Lord Jim's
With an uninterrupted front view of the river, this seafood restaurant serves one of the most popular buffet lunches around with a wide selection of seafood and international dishes. The a la carte dinner menu offers a large variety of the freshest and choicest fish and crustaceans being flown in from wherever the best can be found.

The Verandah Coffee Shop
Offers an international a la carte menu with a huge selection of freshly baked cakes and a variety of homemade ice creams and sorbets. Breakfast is widely popular (Continental, Oriental, Natural). Special Menu of the Day is also available.

Riverside Terrace
The Oriental Hotel's Barbeque dinner buffet features some of the best grilled seafoods, meats and a large, mouth-watering selection of international delicacies from kebabs to Chinese style noodles. One can enjoy alfresco dining on the spacious Riverside Terrace by the River of Kings accompanied by live jazz music.

Bamboo Bar
Known as one of the best live jazz spots in town, the Bamboo Bar serves a variety of cocktails and drinks including the well-known “Oriental Mai Tai” in a sensual, jungle-like ambience. Lunch can be ordered from the adjacent Verandah Coffee Shop. Also features internationally renowned singers nightly from 10.00 pm (except Sundays).

Authors’ Lounge
The Authors’ Lounge is located on the ground floor of the historical Authors’ Wing and exudes an old world charm reminiscent of the colonial era. It is decorated with turn-of-the-century style wicker furniture with hand-painted fabrics, and serves delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and homemade jams for an ideal afternoon high tea.


The China House
Located across from the hotel lobby, the China House is a colonial style residence transformed into a first class Chinese restaurant specialising in Cantonese food with exclusive dishes from other regions such as Schezhuen, Shanghai and Chiu Chow. A dim sum buffet lunch is offered daily.


Sala Rim Naam
Housed in a Thai pavilion lovingly crafted in teak, marble and bronze, Sala Rim Naam offers a classic Thai dining experience serving a daily buffet lunch and set dinner with a traditional Thai classical dance show. The Terrace Rim Naam which is just outside offers a variety of a la carte Thai dishes by the River of Kings, and is open for dinner only.

 

Facilities

Other facilities include a day care centre, a business centre, two outdoor swimming pools, shopping arcades, a beauty parlour and barber shop, a fully equipped health centre, function rooms and conference facilities and The Thai Cooking & Cultural School. In addition, The Oriental Spa, is a temple of well-being offering a unique Thai-style health and beauty centre, featuring the latest spa techniques in a traditional Thai setting.
